"Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace" is the first and only episode of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace on Game Grumps.

Gameplay[]

Arin fights his way through the Trade Federation Ship. At two points he’s forced to restart the beginning of the game after dying. The episode ends on the second death.

Discussions[]

Arin and Danny make fun of the ugly character models, comparing them to South Park.

Arin complains about the game's jarring top-down camera angle and tank controls, which make the game especially nauseating to play.

Danny brings up Lisa Loeb and her career as a musician, along with a reality show she was on.

Arin and Danny make fun of Qui-Gon’s advice for Obi-Wan, egging him on despite there being no possible actions to perform.

Arin wanders about aimlessly trying to figure out how to progress. Danny expresses disappointment in him when Arin finally discovers the game has a "use" button.

Danny is relieved that Arin isn't doing any Yoda jokes, with Arin claiming that his voice is shot and can't do the Yoda voice. This doesn't stop him from doing a Yoda joke anyway.

Danny and Arin discuss other games that came out around and before 1999, like GoldenEye and Metal Gear Solid, and how the game seems especially poor in comparison.

Trivia[]

  • This episode was released among a series of Star Wars-themed one-offs to co-incide with the release of The Force Awakens. Some fans considered this to be an ill omen, as Jon's last game with Game Grumps was Super Star Wars, along with Arin's recent appearance on StarCade.
