Intro[]
"(singing) There was a tree! There was a tree! In the middle of the woods! In the middle of the woods! The prettiest tree! The prettiest tree! That you ever did see! That you ever did see! And the green grass grows all around and around, and the green grass grows all around! And on this tree! And on this tree! There was a branch! There was a branch! The prettiest branch! The prettiest branch! That you ever did see! That you ever did see! Well, the branch on the tree and the tree in the woods and the green grass-" "In the woods?! Fuck you! It's 'In the hole'!" -Green Grass Song and JonTron
Outro[]
"We got back to the part. Next time on Game Grumps." -JonTron
Discussion[]
The episode begins with Jon playing the song "The Green Grass Grows All Around" after discussing it in the previous episode. He is enraged by the fact that this version of the song is different from the one he remembers.
Arin talks about a video[1] that overdubs John Lithgow's version of "Singin' in the Bathtub" with a scene of an episode of Dexter where he appeared and killed a woman in a bathtub.
Jon's mother calls Jon, telling him about how his father survived a (harmless) dental operation, and that Jon shouldn't call him until night. Jon frequently laughs, informing his mom that she is on the show. After she hangs up on Jon, he calls that moment one of the favorite moments in his entire body of work.
Trivia[]
- This episode makes Jon's mother the second person to appear on the show through the phone, after Nick Murphy in I got yelled at by YouTube for that.
- Arin says that the John Lithgow children's songs album released at the same time as Lithgow's appearance in Dexter. The album was released a decade before his appearance in the series and he appeared in more than one episode, being the main antagonist of the series' fourth season.
