Discussion[]

Continuing from the last episode, Arin talks about how the first act of Aladdin is really good, and then the whole rest of the movie is downhill from then on. Arin is especially critical of the love story between Aladdin and Jasmine, and brings up Hercules as a counter-example of a Disney film where the relationship between the male and female leads develops naturally. Jon also mentions Beauty and the Beast as another example of a bad love story, where the Beast is constantly rude towards Belle, but they fall in love anyway.

Jon and Arin argue about the romance subplot in Aladdin: Arin claims that Aladdin and Jasmine have no reason to like each other besides physical attraction, while Jon argues that this is normal for couples from the start. They make a few jokes about shallow women and what they look for in men.

Jon makes a joke about how the power-ups, and how they're all perfectly preserved pieces of food despite being stuck in dank caves for who-knows-how-long. Arin recalls a joke he made in an animation for MTV, where a guy punches a trash can and makes chicken appear, eats it and vomits.

Arin talks about the magic carpet from Aladdin, who is essentially a sandbag test made into a full character, and how he was realized using CGI to overlay a pattern onto every frame of his animation. He also asks Jon if he can name the first Disney movie to use CGI, which he answers in the next episode.
